21 Day Challenge: Day 17-21!

The challenge is officially complete! I'm here with a strange mixture of images tonight, as over the last weekend in the challenge I participated in a Ludum Dare 72hr game jam. Because I was working on straight art for Saturday and Sunday (without really having option to stop given the time constraints), I ended up posting some of my game assets for those days. For those interested, here is a link to our entry to the game jam: Ludum Dare 32
Otherwise I have a couple of landscapes and an lion. :)

21 Day Challenge: Day 12-16 Catch-up

By the time I had 2 unposted drawings since last update again, I figured I might as well just wait to post until I switch subject type again. SO! Here are five studies, three people, one landscape (I loved the picture too much and had to go back for one more landscape!), and one red fox!

21 Day Challenge: Day 10 and 11

Hopefully forgetting to post my daily challenge sketches on here will not continue...but lets not hold out hope. Trust that, once again, I did post on facebook. :P
My day 10 study is from a DeviantArt stock photo, and my day 11 study is from a frame of a capoeira video.

21 Day Challenge: Day 9

Today's reference is from DeviantArt stock: http://ashtrayheartromina.deviantart.com/art/22-414393093
I do love to draw people, though I realized after doing so many landscapes in a row, my method for starting a portrait has changed slightly where I'm blocking more of my shapes in at the beginning rather than sketching shapes in. Interesting..

21 Day Challenge: ...Day 6, 7, and 8

I was a terrible person for the last three days and didn't realize I was only posing my 21 Day challenge paintings on facebook. (which I'm sure everyone believes..) It's true though :P
Anyway, I have two landscapes, both references from Unsplash and one human study. Since landscapes are generally my weaker area, I wanted to make sure I focused a solid week of the challenge on them. I may come back to them near the end...but it was definitely nice to take a break tonight.

21 Day Challenge: Day 5

Day five of Noah Bradley's 21 day challenge is here! Very unlike the previous day's study, this one has a pretty simplistic color palette, which I think helped me get a lot more detail completed within the hour time limit. This one was one of my favorites so far (likely because the subject matter was very familiar ;P).

21 Day Challenge: Day 4

Back again with another study from Unsplash. I wanted to work on an urban landscape this time around. Honestly it's just been good to work on landscapes and environments in general as it's not something I do very often.
Here's what I completed in my hour and twenty minutes tonight:

21 Day Challenge: Day 3

I decided to go with a study reference from Earth Porn on Reddit this time around.

I mainly enjoyed working with the color pallet - it's much different than I'm used to, so learning more about how they interact was great.

21 day challenge: Day 2

It's always surprising how fast 1 hour flies by when working on these studies. I chose another photo from Unsplash as my reference for today's study and mistakenly thought that maybe due to the repetitive nature of the subject, I might be able to get the details in a bit faster. I found that it was definitely the opposite!

Either way, this is what I could complete in the hour:
